The Centennial High School Counseling Program

Georgia’s dual enrollment opportunity for students to take college level courses for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements. The information provided here is to help Centennial students and parents better understand the many details of the dual enrollment process.

D.E. Courses Offered on the CHS Campus

  • College English with GA State Perimeter College
  • -Taken through GA State University Perimeter-College professor comes to CHS to teach the course-Class meets two days a week from 8:00-9:15am (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) 1st or 6th periods-Satisfies Senior English graduation requirement-If a student scores a 3 or higher on the AP Lang exam there may be the option to take English 1102 in the fall and another college English course in the spring (need to have enough students qualify to offer this option at CHS)
  • College Calculus with GA Tech
  • -Taken thru GA Tech-Students participate in course via internet feed from Polycom system-Class meets 5 days a week from 8:00–9:00am-Student must have completed AP Calculus BC

 

  • D.E. Courses on the College Campus
  • Part Time -Less than12 college credit hours-Blend of MOWR classes on the college campus and HS classes at Centennial-Schedule must have a total of 6 classes

    -Need to coordinate MOWR courses with periods CHS classes are offered

    Full Time 

    -Total of 12-15 college credit hours

    -All classes are taken on the college campus

    -No courses would be taken at CHS

    -Student is still enrolled at CHS and can participate in CHS sports, extracurricular activities, clubs and events.

Previously known as Move On When Ready (MOWR), Dual Enrollment is for students at eligible high schools that wish to take college level coursework for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements. For more information follow the links below:

 

Dual Enrollment Application Requirements and Deadlines

Applying for the D.E. program requires students to complete two separate application processes:

  1. The high school application process
  2. The college application process

Students must complete the all of the required steps for both the high school and college for their application to be considered for admission into the Dual Enrollment program.

Students must meet all of the high school and college Dual Enrollment application deadlines as listed below to be accepted. Deadlines are in accordance with Fulton County Schools guidelines and policies.

Students must meet all of the high school and college Dual Enrollment admission requirements to be accepted.

 

Part 1 Deadline:  March 31 

  • College D.E. Online Application
  • Fulton County Schools D.E. Contract

 

Part 2 Deadline:   May 1

  • Official HS Transcript
  • Official Test Scores: SAT, ACT (or ACCUPLACER if accepted)
